Maria Wherley, M.Ed.
I am a Learning Designer and Writer-in-Residence with the Dutton Institute. I work with faculty to develop and maintain online courses and to conduct research, I manage the editing of Dutton materials, and I serve as a writing tutor for online students. My research interests center on equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) issues, writing, reflective journaling, science communication, and learning science. I have more than twenty years of teaching experience, serving a wide variety of learners a diverse range of subjects. I have also worked at the state level to design curricula for public schools. I hold a B.S. in Secondary Education, English and an M. Ed. In Curriculum and Instruction from Penn State and currently serve as chair of the College of EMS Diversity Council and as a member of the Dutton Green Team. I am happily married with two grown sons, am an avid cyclist and a new beekeeper, and take refuge in music and the outdoors.
